13th February 2003

Here are the latest batch of games which took place at the club on Thursday 13th February 2003. In case you're wondering, we didn't have any games last week...there was a power cut in Durham.

Game: 25mm American Civil War
Rules: Johnny Reb 2

The Confederate Command signal the advance...

The first week of what we anticipate will be a two week game. I haven't played Johnny Reb before but wanted to give it a go because I'd heard it was rather good plus I'm a fan of those old Avalon Hill board games and their complex rulesets.

Countercharge

The game involved 9 club members, four on each side and one referee.

Zoave attack...

I can only comment on what was happening where I was (the Union left wing) as I have no idea what was happening on at the other end of the table...I was too involved in trying to stop my artillery routing, which they did upon being fired upon for the very first time. They decided enough was enough, and legged it of the board.

My Zoaves seemed to be in a good position, in cover, on the left flank, however, a combination of extremely poor dice rolls on my side and extremely good ones by the Rebs (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it), and I found myself having difficulty holding the line. Ho hum, we'll see what happens next week...

Game: Ancients - Egyptians vs. Hittites in 6mm
Rules: DBM

Don't know much about this game I'm afraid as I was struggling through the rather complex Johnny Reb game at the time.
