Here are the latest batch of games which took place at the club on Thursday 29th May 2003.

Game: Napoleonics in 6mm - France v Austria
Rules: Piquet

Overview

This was the first time we'd tried Piquet Napoleonics, though as the regular reader may have guessed, we've played quite a few games of Piquet over the last few weeks.

This was a 2 week game, 3 players per side, one of whom assumed the roll of C-in-C...well, what can I say, I was C-in-C for the French, and within 30 minutes of the first week, I just new we'd (or should that be I'd!!!) made a huge mistake...

As you can see from the photograph above, there was a strong point at one side of the table, with another at the opposite side...it was a classic Hougoumont situation, as the French, who couldn't believe the amount of impetus they were winning, got suckered into throwing resources at the towns...a futile gesture, which split their forces, and led to a casualty list (and morale chip loss) which would become insurmountable...

The veterans crumble...

As they ran out of Morale Chips, it was obvious (mainly due to the rather large pile of chips held by the Austrians), that the French weren't going to win, nevertheless, we played to a conclusion. Following a fatal injury to the Commander of the veteran French command, and the turning of the Major Morale card in the deck, a tactical withdrawl was made....

...what can I say but pass the regimental revolver!!!

Game: Romans v Indians in 25mm
Rules: Warhammer Ancient Battles

Roman around...

This one looked rather nice, not sure who won (any chance of a battle report???).
